Nuclear Medicine Prep

You will be given specific prep instructions at the time your exam is being scheduled.

On completion of your exam the Technologists will advise you of any directions you may need to follow after your exam.

Bone Scan

Complete, Limited and 3-phase Hydrate prior to exam.

Gastric Emptying Study

Nothing to eat after midnight.

Hepatobilliary scan / HIDA / Gallbaldder

Nothing to eat after midnight.

Meckels Diverticulum Scan

Nothing to eat after midnight.

Renal Scan with Captropril

Your Provider will order a Captopril pill for you to pick up at your pharmacy. Do not take your regular Blood pressure pill.

Renal Scan without Captropril

No prep.

Thyroid scan

No prep.

Thyroid scan with uptake

The patient must come the day before their scheduled exam day and take the thyroid uptake pill, so that it has the proper amount of time to run through their body to complete the thyroid exam on the following day.
