Healthcare Careers

Considering a career in healthcare? As a high school student, here are some opportunities to consider:

Job Shadowing - often we can arrange for you to follow an expert in whatever healthcare discipline you are considering that we have at ECMC. Just call the Human Resources' Education Department at 785-472-3111 ext. 328 to set-up this opportunity.

On-the-Job Training - ECMC partners with local high schools to provide a semester-long look at the healthcare career that you may be considering. The Guidance Counselor at any local high school will help set this opportunity up for interested students. For more information, contact Beth Vallier at 785-472-5028 ext. 328 or bvallier@ewmed.com.

CampMed - once a year students attend this day long exciting camp. The hands-on experience offers many opportunities for students to consider healthcare careers up- close. The camp also offers scholarship opportunities for students to participate in. CampMedic is offered in conjunction with CampMed and is a half day with college representatives and professional presentations from those in the medical field. For more information, contact Beth Vallier at 785-472-5028 ext. 328 or bvallier@ewmed.com.

Opportunity Day - ECMC participates in this day-long event sponsored by Wilson High School each December. Contact the FFA leader at Wilson High School for details: 785-658-3555.

College students pursuing healthcare-related degrees often complete clinical rotations or internships at ECMC. Contact can be made with department directors for the experience needed or call Education Coordinator for additional assistance, 785-472-3111 ext. 328.
