Family & Friends Information:

Telephone

All patient rooms are equipped with telephones.
To place a local call: dial "9" then the seven digit number.
To place a long distance call: dial "9" then "0", then the number you are calling (including the area code if it is different). At this point, you may use a calling card to place your phone call. Long distance calls cannot be billed to your hospital account.

Dietary

The ECMC's registered dietician works closely with our physicians in the area of nutrition and diet therapy. If you have any concerns regarding your diet, our dietician is available to help with your needs.

Our patient meal schedule is:
Breakfast 7:45 a.m.
Lunch 11:30 a.m.
Dinner 5:15 p.m.
ECMC's cafeteria is open to guests and visitors. The prices per meal vary according to our daily menu. Our cafeteria provides beverages to our visitors free of charge.

Our visitors' meal schedule is:
Breakfast 7:45 a.m.-10:00 a.m.
Lunch 11:30 a.m.- 1:00 p.m.
Dinner 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.

Vending machines are located outside of the cafeteria for your convenience.

Visiting Hours

The Ellsworth County Medical Center recognizes that family and friends play a vital role in your recovery. We do not have scheduled visiting hours or limits on visitation. However, we encourage all visitors to take into consideration the needs of the patients. We ask that all visitors be respectful of the length of their visits and the number of visitors present.

For the safety of our patients and employees, the front entrance will remain locked from 9:00 p.m. until 6:30 a.m. Visitors will need to use the intercom in the Emergency Room entrance to gain entrance after 9:00 pm. Our staff will be available to assist you in gaining entrance.

Personal Belongings

During your stay, ECMC will provide bed clothing and personal hygiene items for your stay. We urge you not to bring valuable items to ECMC. We cannot assume responsibility for cash, jewelry, or other valuables kept in patient rooms. Valuable items may be checked into the nursing staff or sent home with family members. We encourage you to collect your valuables on the day of your dismissal.

Please, keep your fragile items, such as, dentures or eyeglasses in a protective container and labeled with your personal identification. By identifying your fragile items, we hope this will prevent items from getting misplaced or broken.

Patient Safety

Patient safety is foremost in the minds of ECMC staff. We are diligent in our efforts to have safety measures in place for our patients and visitors.

Staff Infection Control

To prevent the spread of germs, patient care staff will at times wear face covers, gloves or gowns. The staff at ECMC practice appropriate hand washing techniques.

Patient/Visitor Infection Control Measures

The single most important step you can take to prevent the spread of germs is washing your hands before or after contact with another person. Please, wash your hands using soap and warm water. Also, available in each room is hand gel disinfectants should you prefer it. Family and friends with any symptom of cold, flu, diarrhea or skin infections, are encouraged not to visit. ECMC asks you refrain from visiting if you have been exposed to a communicable illness such as chicken pox.

Patient's concerns or questions are invaluable to your hospital stay. We encourage communication between you and our staff members. We will answer your concerns and encourage an open dialogue. We will share our knowledge regarding your recovery and find the answers to your questions.

Smoking

Smoking is prohibited inside the facility of the Ellsworth County Medical Center. There is a designated smoking area outside of the entrance of the hospital.

Alcohol/Unauthorized Drugs

The use of alcohol is prohibited on the property of the Ellsworth County Medical Center. The use of non-prescribed drugs is prohibited as well.
