CT Preps


You will be given specific prep instructions at the time your exam is scheduled.

If possible, avoid wearing clothes that have metal buckles, buttons or zippers. Please remove any jewelry in the area of your exam.

On completion of your exam the Technologists will advise you of any directions you may need to follow after your exam.

Abdomen or Abdomen & Pelvis with IVand oral contrast


Do not eat or drink anything at least 4 hours prior
½ bottle of oral contrast 2 hour prior
½ bottle of oral contrast 1 hour prior
Blood may drawn for Lab work to identify any possible contraindications

Abdomen for Aneurysm with IV contrast


Do not eat or drink anything at least 4 hours prior
Blood may drawn for Lab work to identify any possible contraindications

Abdomen & Pelvis for Stone


No prep.

Cervical or Thoracic or Lumbar spines without IV contrast


No prep.

Chest with IV contrast


Do not eat or drink anything at least 4 hours prior
Blood may drawn for Lab work to identify any possible contraindications

Extremity (upper or lower) or Pelvis for Bone exam protocol


For fracture or bone detail, without IV contrast. No prep.
If it is for a questionable or palpable mass it is done with IV contrast.

Facial Bones exam protocol without IV contrast


No prep.

Head exam protocol without IV contrast.


No prep.

If IV contrast is ordered

Soft Tissue neck exam protocol with IV contrast


Do not eat or drink anything at least 4 hours prior

CTA of Brain, Aorta or Exremities with IV contrast


Do not eat or drink anything at least 4 hours prior
Blood may drawn for Lab work to identify any possible contraindications
